Tonbridge Residents Parking

Consultation on town centre parking

Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council have had requests to address parking concerns from residents of Tonbridge town centre, who have no access to private parking facilities or existing on-street resident permit schemes due to their location.

TMBC advised that it is not possible to provide on-street residents parking bays in the town centre, due to the road widths and the levels of development.

The council are proposing a new Tonbridge town centre residents’ car parking season ticket, which would allow residents with no alternative to park in the long-stay car parks nearby.

Initially, this is being offered for a trial period to people who reside in properties in Tonbridge town centre in the area between the High Street (to the west), the railway (to the south and east) and the river Medway (to the north), who are not already eligible for parking permits as part of an on-street residents parking scheme. Tickets would be £350 per 12-month period.

TMBC are seeking comments on the proposal, which can be made here. The consultation closes on 1 August 2021.
