Tonbridge church bells removed

The bells of Tonbridge Parish church bells are undergoing a major restoration.

The eight bells were removed and loaded onto a lorry to be retuned and overhauled at Taylors of Loughborough - the only bell foundry left in Great Britain.

The Tonbridge bells were last refurbished in 1952. Three of the bells were cast in 1774, with some being recast in 1901 and 1952.

All fittings are also to be restored - so the bells will sound better and be easier to ring when the bells return in about four months.
