Suspected Burglar Tracked Down in Tunbridge Wells

A charge of three counts of burglary

A volunteer from the Special Constabulary has helped with the arrest of a suspected burglar charged with carrying out three break-ins in just two hours in Tunbridge Wells.

It is reported that between 12 am and 2 pm on Wednesday 14 July 2021, homes were targeted in Lansdowne Road, Albion Road, and St James’ Road. Possessions including a wallet, bank cards. phones and a laptop were all alleged to have been stolen.

Search

Police were called to the area at around 12.50 am and a search was assisted by a police dog unit and a special constable. This led to the arrest of a suspect and a number of items were recovered nearby.

Levi Burns, aged 19, was later charged with three counts of burglary. He was also charged with possessing amphetamine.

The teenager was remanded to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 15 July. He was granted bail and will next appear before Maidstone Crown Court on 12 August.

Special Constables

Special constables are volunteers who have full police powers, equipment, and uniform and who work alongside regular officers at Kent Police.

They give up a minimum of 16 hours of their own time every month, to help police in an area of their choice.
