Julian Brandling-Harris has taken office as President of Tonbridge Rotary Club
Julian Brandling-Harris received the chain of office at the annual Presidential Handover on 11 July 2024, becoming the 102nd person to hold the position. Peter Thomas takes over as President-Elect, and the new Vice President is David Baker.
In 2018 Julian and his wife Penny became the first married couple to assume full membership of the club. Penny served as President for 2022-23 and has just taken over the role of Club Secretary.
Julian has a background in journalism and publishing, starting as a reporter for the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph after completing a one-year course run by the National Council for the Training of Journalists. He holds a degree in law from Southampton University and his career includes working as a journal publisher for Longman in a division of the company specialising in law, tax, and finance.
The couple have lived in Hadlow for 23 years, and during his time there Julian was a member of the Save the Hadlow Tower Action Group (SHTAG). He divides his time between family – son, stepson, and five grandchildren – some freelance publishing work, and a little fishing.
