Local and Live Music Festival : Preview

A bank holiday weekend full of live free music, with some live on West Kent Radio

Fans of live music are looking forward to the return of the Local and Live festival in Tunbridge Wells this Bank Holiday weekend.

The festival features local musicians exclusively playing their own material.

There’s a stage in Calverley Grounds where the music begins at 5 pm on Friday.

Our reporter Martin Webber hears from the event’s founder and artistic director, Paul Dunton.

Paul points to the headline act Isabella Coulstock who first appeared at the festival aged 14 and who now regularly works with Jools Holland.

The music in Calverley Grounds runs from 5 pm to 10 pm on Friday.

While on Saturday and Sunday acts are on stage there - all the way from Noon to 10 pm.

On Monday Local & Live moves to fringe venues in the town.  This year they include Trinity Theatre Gardens, the Forum basement, and Sankey’s Restaurant.

The festival is family-friendly and free thanks to local business sponsors.

West Kent Radio will provide special coverage of Local and Live over the coming weekend.  We’ll go behind the scenes talking to the artists.

The radio coverage is on Saturday from Noon to 6 pm and Sunday from Noon to 7 pm.
