The Liberal Democrats comfortably held onto the ward of St. John's in a Borough Council by-election on Thursday.
The by-election followed the resignation of the the Liberal Democrat councillor Matthew Fox, who was elected last year.
Ukonu Obasi was elected with 53% of the vote. The turnout was 28.4%.
Afterwards Ukonu Obasi spoke to the Kent Current newsletter. He said “I love this community. It’s a very diverse, welcoming community, and it’s my honour and pleasure to be elected to serve them.”
