"Joy To The Wells"

The festive season gets underway in Tunbridge Wells on Thursday 14 November with a big Christmas kick-off event.

Activities will start at the Opera House, parade down Mount Pleasant and finish in the High Street. 

 

The large launch event will take place starting at 4pm on Thursday 14th November to include the unveiling of a new Christmas projection display on the Opera House, along with a Santa sing-along parade through town followed by a Bauble Bingo prize giving and quiet fireworks over the High Street to end the evening.

 

The Royal Tunbridge Wells Together Business Improvement District (BID) has organised the events. BID Chief Executive Officer Alex Green spoke to West Kent Radio and his interview can be heard through this link:

 

Alex Green (pictured below) told us the launch event is bigger and better than ever before.

 

Alex Green said: "We are really excited to be running this event, which will include the only projection display like this in Kent (we believe possibly in the whole South-East), the first time a parade like this will be taking place and the first-time fireworks have been brought to the centre of town in many years!

"We hope to see thousands of visitors to the event and have set up a rolling road-closure format to ensure people can move through the town safely, whilst minimising disruption to motorists."

It marks the start of a major seasonal campaign called "Joy To The Wells" that’s being masterminded by the Royal Tunbridge Wells Together Business Improvement District - or BID.

The campaign aims to promote the town, its businesses and its retailers by staging events and activities for local people and visitors to enjoy.
