Pet Matters - Caring For Your Pets In Summer

In the latest Pet Matters, Mona Channet is joined by Joanna Sutherland to talk about some of the risks our pets can face during summer.

Summer is a time for BBQs, family gatherings, celebrations, fireworks and spending more time outdoors. But while we’re enjoying ourselves, it’s important to remember that our pets may experience these occasions very differently.

In the latest Pet Matters, Mona Channet is joined by Joanna Sutherland to talk about some of the risks our pets can face during summer and the holidays — from food that can be toxic, to unfamiliar visitors, loud noises, stress and potential injuries.

We also talk about something much more serious: the importance of recognising when pets are vulnerable to harm and abuse, and our responsibility as owners and guests to protect them.

🐶 🐱 🐰 Whether you have a dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pig or another beloved companion, a little preparation can make a huge difference. Creating a safe space, knowing which foods and objects to keep away from pets, and understanding when they need some peace and quiet can help everyone enjoy the celebrations.

Because our pets may not understand the celebration — but they rely on us to make sure they are safe.
