Health Secretary Sajid Javid has launched an independent enquiry into the actions of David Fuller, following the filming of abuse at the former Kent & Sussex hospital and at the then-new hospital at Pembury. Last week, Fuller changed his plea to guilty following the murder in Tunbridge Wells of Caroline Pierce and Wendy Knell in 1987. The inquiry will be in two parts, with initial findings due early in 2022, followed by a final report looking at the lessons to be learned by the NHS and national implications. Tunbridge Wells MP Greg Clark supported the announcement in a speech in the House of Commons.


A suspect has been charged with offences in Tunbridge Wells. On the 29th of October, a break-in was reported at a High Street shop, where jewelry was stolen. A further report several days later, stated that tobacco and other items were taken from another store in the High Street. Frederick Webb, aged 36 from Tunbridge Wells, was arrested and later charged with several offences. He is due to appear at a hearing on the 2nd of December.


Many doctor surgeries are not giving annual flu vaccinations this year. Instead, vaccinations are being provided by pharmacists. If you qualify for a free flu shot, this will be provided at no cost by the pharmacist.


 A bedroom fire in Horsmonden yesterday, was the result of heat from a log burner. Two fire engines attended and used chimney gear to extinguish the flames. Nobody was hurt in the incident.


In local sport, Tunbridge Wells rugby club is holding social touch rugby sessions each Tuesday from 6:30 pm under floodlights. New members are welcome,
