Sweeter Strawberries

Kent is known for its fruit farms and this year’s harvest of summer strawberries and other soft fruit has been an excellent one.

Plenty of warm sunshine earlier in the year has created extra sweet strawberries.

Locally grown produce - that’s sold within 24 hours of being picked - is known to be tastier and full of more valuable healthy nutrients than if it’s transported long distances to supermarkets.

One way of getting super fresh fruit is by visiting the Groombridge Farm Shop.

That sells strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, blueberries, currants and cherries grown in fields close by at New Park Farm.

I spoke to Samantha Green, who’s the manager of the Groombridge Farm shop and first I asked her how long she’d been working at the shop.
