Safety at Night

A walk entitled "Reclaim the Night" took place on Monday 25th November at 7.30pm and organiser Jayne Sharratt explains the purpose.

Jayne tells our reporter Liz Barnes that it is a fun evening but with a serious purpose.

Jayne says the aim is to raise awareness of how women feel and their apprehension about being out in the dark.

People were able to talk to police on the walk and discuss their concerns and get advice.

Jayne Sharratt, who is a Labour Party Borough Councillor for Rusthall and Speldhurst, says there have been recent safety concerns on Rusthall Common.

The "Reclaim the Night" walk had two starting points: St John's Church and Rusthall One Stop. Both walks ended at the Pantiles.

The walk from St John's is being led by Ellen Neville who is Borough Councillor for the Tunbridge Wells Alliance Party.
