£10 Billion Road Scheme

A plan to build a new Lower Thames Crossing is opposed by a local campaigner.

A huge scheme to build two new road tunnels under the Thames in North Kent is still being considered by the government. It's designed to relieve congestion at the M25 Dartford crossing. Kent business groups support the plan. But local campaigner Adrian Berendt says it's a waste of money and the £ 10 billion should be spent instead on improving local paths and cycle routes. A decision on the new crossing is now expected in May 2025.
