New Coach Lifts Team

Kent County Cricket club have had a successful start to the 2025 season.

The side won their first two County Championship matches and then batted out for a draw in the third game.

The club were relegated last season in the four-day Championship competition, so they’re now playing against slightly weaker opposition.  

Even so, the early results have lifted hopes for a successful season.

Opening batter Ben Compton has already scored two hundreds and he thinks much of the credit should go to the team’s new coach Adam Hollioake (pictured below).

Our News Editor, Martin Webber, has been speaking to Fred Atkins, who's the Kent correspondent for the England and Wales Cricket Board Reporters Network and the Wisden Cricket Almanac.  They discussed the impact of Adam Hollioake's arrival.

Fred has also just started a Kent cricket news website called theKentSpitfire.co.uk - this aims to provide more in depth coverage of the county sides' performances.

Fred discusses the prospects for the county side returning to play at the Nevill Ground in Tunbridge Wells.  The news feature also includes comments from Kent’s captain, Daniel Bell-Drummond, and opening batter, Ben Compton.
